Aren't they the best? Those completely spontaneous trips be it for a week or a few days. Even one night!
A few Saturday's ago at about 10pm my best friend text me and asked me and matt to sack work off and come and see her down in Manchester.
So we did.
2 hours later of wondering what on earth had pocessed me to pursue that crazy journey we arrived to a very smily Kerry, a cup of tea and some Maryland cookies (she had promised snacks, the main reason matt thought it was a great idea. He doesn't like Maryland cookies though haha). We had a little chit chat for a while but the drive had took it out of me and we turned in for the night.
The next day was the best I've had in a long time. We walked down by the canal and into the centre of town for a spot of shopping! Manchester is crazy even on a Sunday, it doesn't bare thinking about on a Saturday afternoon!
AND THEN. We went to eat in the most perfect Christmassy winter setting. A place called The Oast House. When it gets close to Christmas they have a teepee put up outside of the resturant. Inside it's like a little Santa's grotto with a lit fire as the centre point, twinkly Christmas lights, soft fluffy rugs laid out on the benches to sit on and an acoustic band playing in the back ground well... I couldn't think of anything more perfect if I tried. It was lovely. The Oast House is a Grill based food, everything is cooked outside on the BBQ... If you are ever in Manchester and wondering where to eat I would seriously recommend trying here, it really is lovely.
After our tummies were full and I was a little merry after one glass of rosé, yes one glass. We decided it would be a fabulous idea to go and do some outdoor ice skating at a slightly costly price of £10 per person! Although we did get a whole hour on the ice and even though I cannot ice skate one tiny little bit I honestly had the best time, it was well worth the money and I managed to not end up on my bottom!
All in all we had a fabulous spontaneous weekend in Manchester with two of my very best friends.
